History Lives Right Here
Lawnes Point holds a special place in American history as the location of Fort Huger, a Civil War-era Confederate stronghold that helped Southern soldiers ward off Union attacks from the James River. Recognizing the significance of this historic landmark, VA Timberline has donated the Fort Huger site along with a 50+ acre park to the county of Isle of Wight. This will ensure that the importance and integrity of Fort Huger is always protected.
